Reiki Healing for Animals

"My little dog -- a heartbeat at my feet."
~ Edith Wharton

Treatments and Services:

Reiki is a wonderful way to offer healing to animals.  Animals know intuitively what Reiki is and, therefore, are accepting and appreciative of its offering.  Animals are great teachers and will often guide the practitioner to exactly where they need the most healing.  My cat “Pants” will continuously flip himself over and over like a flap-jack so I don’t miss anything.  Animals may approach the practitioner during a treatment when they feel a need to be close and feel the strength of Reiki, or they would like some hands-on healing.  Some animals prefer to absorb the healing energy from a distance. Which is great, too, because, distant treatments are not any less strong in Reiki’s ability to heal, as Reiki’s power transcends space and time.

        In-Person Treatments:
In-Person Reiki treatments consist of the Reiki practitioner being in close proximity to the animal, whether the same room, yard area, barn or paddock.  Some animals like to start off the treatment with hands-on work, and others may move in and out of the area of your hands during the course of the treatment. And again, some may just enjoy the healing energy from several feet away.

Since Reiki is never forced, and permission of the animal is always asked, the animals know they are in charge of the treatment.  The practitioner will know if the animal is responding in a positive way to the Reiki healing or if the animal wants no part of it.  In cases like that, Reiki may be done at a distance and offered up to the highest good for the situation or perhaps the treatment would be done at a later time.

Distant Treatments:

Because Reiki is a part of all that is, energy, its energy is not confined, but can flow through space and time as energy knows no boundaries.  There are times when an in-person treatment with the animal is not possible.  Perhaps the animal is in the hospital undergoing treatments for an illness or recovering from surgery. Reiki, even from a distance, can calm and offer strength and healing.  Even if the animal is out of state or out of the country, Reiki’s energy can be sent and felt by the animal.  Another wonderful way to offer healing to our animal friends is during their transition to death and as they continue their journey.  It is a great way to help comfort and ease any anxiety they might have.
Reiki benefits not only the physical body but the emotional and spiritual being as well.

Animals, like humans make up only a small portion of the circle of life. But each part of that circle must be cared for and not forgotten.
